First, the Inaugural Make Bill Happy Fic Challenge is up and running. Go check it out and write some happy-making fic for our Admiral!

And second, we have two wonderful people who have volunteered to be [info]william_adama's new mods! Please give a warm thank-you to [info]bsg_aussiegirl and [info]escapedvelocity for stepping up. ^_^ Of course we have one snag in that I cannot actually make them both maintainers until LJ finishes assigning owners to communities and unfreezes the owner-level functions, but that's just a matter of time. [info]altitudeandwine and I will stay on as emergency backup maintainers, but these two will be the guiding hands. High-fives to you both!

If anyone has any suggestions, questions, or just wants to say YAY NEW MODS, comment away!

Birthday-Scrapbook for EJO!

Since EJO appreciated the scrapbook/donation drive we did for his birthday over the last two years, [info]scarecrow1983 and I have again decided to do another one this year. We can’t tell you all enough how very grateful and happy EJO was about last year’s scrapbook, so we’re hoping to be able to put together another wonderful book for him and therefore we hope to get as many participants as possible. Any contribution no matter what it is is welcomed. Here are the details:

Who we are: Five women who have decided to use the mighty and awesome power of fandom for good – namely, to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. And who are not at all afraid to wear a tiara in public.

What we're doing: Like it says above, we’re raising money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the largest source of non-profit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.

All proceeds from our fundraising efforts will go to support the Susan G. Komen Foundation through the Global Race for the Cure being held in Washington, DC on June 4, 2011.

Yes, we’re all registered to run the race. And yes, we will all be running in our tiaras.

How exactly are we planning to go about this fundraising, you ask? Aside from the usual asking for donations, we’ll be auctioning a variety of special, fannishly oriented items acquired at the various cons we attend. Who knows? We may even be able to get a photograph of Edward James Olmos or one of your favorite BSG celebrities in one of our fabulous tiaras.

How can I help?: Bid on our auction items. Follow us here on LJ and on Twitter at @tiaras4tatas. Pimp us out (we’re easy). Or you can donate directly to the tiaras4tatas team here at the Komen Race for the Cure website.

I never turn the 6pm news on, but I'm glad I did today. The lead story was Eddie talking about Jaime Escalante, who many of you know was the basis for Eddie's character in Stand and Deliver. Jaime is dying of cancer, and his friends are appealing to the public to help make his last months comfortable. Eddie spoke from the heart, I'll try and find a vid of it.
